I AM IN THE PROCESS OF UPDATING & REVAMPING MY WEBSITE. ALL THE UPDATES SHOULD BE GOING LIVE FOR THE NEW YEAR SO PLEASE COME BACK THEN TO HAVE A LOOK
Monton Bears was born from a life long passion for craft and creative making. As a child I was taught to Knit, crochet and sew by my mum and nan and endlessly created accessories for my doll and teddy bear collection that lived proudly at the end of my bed.
In 2014 I bought a kit to create a bear as a keepsake for my daughter, which I sewed entirely by hand as my then sewing machine wasn't to be trusted on such fine mohair. Although she adored "Ginger" I could see all the imperfections leading me to strive for better. Many nights spent researching the world of bear making and a tuition course with a truly inspirational tutor have sown the seed of addiction
The Monton family are primarily conceived from a love of the fur rather than by design. The furs that I simply cannot resist are sourced and then the fur inspires the design, making each bear unique. I draw my ideas into pattern and fabric mock-up before cutting. Traditional cotterpin joints are used in all but the large bears which use bolt joints to ensure a snug joint.
As families tend to do, the Monton's have grown in numbers and I cannot keep them all whilst satisfying my addiction to create more, so Monton bears was formed to offer for adoption, beautifully made, adorable mohair Monton.
